How a curiosity for how things actually work turned into building low-level systems, production web apps, and LLM training pipelines.
My name is Jugert Mucoimaj, and I’m 25 years old.
I’ve been a curious person for as long as I can remember, and technology fascinated me from an early age because it gave me something I could fully focus on and explore.
Years later, I decided to leave the high school in my village and continue my studies in Tirana, the capital of Albania. During my second year there, I bought my first personal laptop, and that was when I seriously entered the world of cybersecurity. Kali Linux was my first Linux distribution, and penetration testing quickly became one of my main interests.
I soon realized that if I wanted to become a good penetration tester, I couldn’t rely entirely on tools built by other people. I wanted to understand how those tools worked and eventually build my own.
September 2018 until March 2019 · Understanding memory, pointers, and sockets
From September 2018 until March 2019, I spent around six months learning the language. By then, I was confident enough to understand C properly and write my own programs. But I didn’t stop there. I moved almost immediately into Python, and that was what really kickstarted my experience with building tools.
I created various custom tools for myself, including servers, clients, automation utilities, and other scripts for different purposes. At the same time, I was active on Hack The Box, where I eventually reached the rank of Elite Hacker.
Cybersecurity ended up teaching me far more than penetration testing. Because I wanted to understand systems down to their roots, it pushed me deep into the plumbing of modern computing: low-level networking, Linux internals, virtualization, Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure engineering.
Being hired by an Albanian cybersecurity company, First SHPK, provided valuable early industry immersion. But working in the field also brought a defining clarity: I didn’t want to spend my career merely auditing or breaking tools that other people had written. I wanted to design, architect, and ship whole production systems from the ground up.
That transition into full-stack software development felt completely natural. Because I had spent years writing custom socket servers, automation daemons, and C programs rather than relying on surface-level tutorials, production web engineering and distributed databases clicked immediately. I brought the habits of security engineering—assuming keys will leak, enforcing deterministic audit trails, and isolating tenant schemas—directly into product architecture.
When artificial intelligence and large language models accelerated, that systems foundation became my greatest multiplier. Instead of treating AI as an external black box or a superficial wrapper, I leveraged my experience building custom tooling to develop my own training pipelines, data scripts, fine-tuning workflows, and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integrations.
Today, I have several years of production experience in web development and systems engineering—working comfortably across backend services, high-fidelity responsive frontends, cloud infrastructure, and AI tooling.

What started with a laptop, Kali Linux, and the desire to understand how things worked has evolved into something much broader: architecting resilient systems, building custom AI infrastructure, and continuously engineering whatever comes next.
